1967 Furniture From Sears

Here are some of the furniture offerings from the Sears 1967 Spring/Summer catalog. Lots of bentwood back in the day. I have a rocking chair styled after this one in my dollhouse.

Not a fan of plaid upholstery, but these styles aren't bad at all.

Danish Modern anyone? I like this look. Unfortunately for me, my parents leaned toward the style in the next photo.

Yeah, about as far away from "modern" as you can get!

Hmm...

We had a rocking love seat somewhat similar to the chair on the right. I never thought too much about its looks back then-- it was pretty comfortable though.

And the least expensive piece is now the most sought after and expensive. Go figure.

Hope you have comfy seating as you blog hop today!

  1. The very first piece of furniture I bought for myself was a Bentwood rocker when I was 19 years old. I still have it and it's at the lake house.

I have to disagree with you on the plaid - I'm a big fan of plaid. :-)

    Enjoy your Sunday.

  2. We had some of that ugly cornucopia crap that someone passed along as a hand me down. It was just in our basement/rec room. It was so ugly, but I have to admit, it was the most comfortable seating in the house. We also had one of those super cool sofas in our living room. It was also a hand me down from my rich grandparents. But we wore the heck out of it and the legs broke off. We didn't have a lot of money, so my parents just set the base of the sofa on top of milk crates. Then they propped the broken legs were they were supposed to be. So instead of it looking like our sofa was supported by milk crates, they made it look like our sofa was fine and we were just "storing" milk crates underneath. What were they thinking!!?? Its pretty funny now, but at the time I was mortified!

  5. That patchwork rocking chair... I see many people trying to emulate that look now days.
Most of these modern pieces are sought after...yes, especially the fiberglass chairs.
My family tened toward the Colonial suite too...maybe because they could be had for so cheap...if you bought the entire set!
It's cool to see this layout.
