Flower Pins Update

You may (or may not) remember my post a few weeks ago showcasing vintage flower pins. I mentioned I was not displaying any at the moment and asked readers for suggestions.  A couple people gave me the idea of using a shadow box or covered board. I didn't find a shadow box I liked which lead to this...

I used 3" x 3" artist canvas. I painted them black with craft paint then just stuck the pins through the canvas.  I really shouldn't say "just."  It's sort of difficult to get it through, very difficult to get the pin exactly where you want it, and I scratched the paint off a couple so had to touch it up. All that said, I do like the way it turned out. I haven't actually hung them yet since I plan on painting the room where they will reside this summer.

Here is the back.  If you have any plans to try this, please notice you must use stretched canvas not canvas panels.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. The pin displays are pretty. I love seeing vintage collections displayed! I'm trying to think of something creative/not-too-busy for my toys. Hmmm... :D

    1. You're right about not-too-busy. Collections can be clutter-ers too.
