Floral Postcard

Sunday Postcard Art's theme this week is Flower Power. Naturally I thought of hippies and ricky ticky daisies so why does my card look nothing like that? I dunno. Just one of those projects that went in its own direction. The bold purple and orange flowers were cut from vintage Current stationery of the hippie era so I got that much in. The two stanzas of Roadside Flowers was found in an old (1911 or so) Ladies Home Journal. See the entire poem as it was printed below.

I had never heard of Bliss Carman. Have you? Here is a link. He was a well known poet of the day.

By the way-- how did September get here so fast???

  1. No, I'd never heard of Bliss Carman either. Lovely postcard. I like the overlay look and embellishments. For me, it is a tad depressing that September is already here. We definitely haven't had enough summer yet, but we've sure had the rainstorms!

  4. Love your postcard and it most definitely has a retro feel to me. Never heard of Bliss Carmen but that is a lovely poem, I've squirreled it away in my stash :O) As for September, not a dang clue how it got here so soon - it is raining cats and dogs and barely above 50F here, wahhhh! On the plus side, it's got me in the mood to make Christmas ornaments because it's so blasted cold!!
