ICAD 11-15

ICAD update time... this first card uses the prompt "baseball," and you can't get more "baseball" than Babe Ruth, right? The baseball card is a repro card from a Dover book that I've had for a few years.  The curvy stripe is part of an old yarn label. Also catalog clippings, rubber stamp/ink and marker.

Gee, two prompts in a row! This one is obviously, "TV." I'm not totally thrilled with the outcome. Kinda predictable, but they all can't be blockbusters, right? Craft paint background, scrapbook paper, sticker, catalog clippings, markers, and that test pattern is from ye olde internet.

The still popular zentangle style. I haven't done a lot with this technique and that probably shows, but it's fun.

And speaking of popular, I went with the "art journal" look on card #14. Catalog clippings, craft paint and a little washi.

The last one is terribly simple, but I do like the effect. The bird image and "LIKE" just happened to be next to each other on my work space, and I liked the way they looked together. Both were cut from a magazine, craft paint background.

ICAD 6-10

I'm back with the next group of ICAD cards. Number six is just a collage, using old magazine clippings. The little bird is a wooden scrapbook embellishment. I also added some paint and marker.

Number seven went in a more modern direction. Craft paint background, punched squares, hand drawn squares, and an old catalog image.

I used the "island" prompt for number eight. A rather simple collage. The "Gilligan's" image I printed off the internet, and the rest are pictures and text from a catalog.

Number nine is a mixed media type collage of paint, magazine clippings, washi tape, rubber stamp, gel pen... yeah, pretty mixed.

I followed another prompt for this one: cobalt blue. Magazine clippings (mostly from the same mag-- is cobalt a hot color? I wasn't aware). Some punched leaves and marker "dots." Watercolor background by the way.

ICAD 2-5

As promised here is the first batch of my ICAD cards. You may or may not know there are daily prompts which I generally don't follow (go ahead, insert an opinion). This first card is a random craft paint background, magazine clippings, and added designs with gesso.

Now this Snoopy card I did use the prompt which was... Snoopy, of course! The main image is a vintage playing card. The remainder is rubber stamping colored in with markers.

Number four is watercolor "squares" and simple daisies made from markers.

A rather simple card for #5. I had quite a few magazine snippets scattered about my work surface so decided to put them to use. The background is craft paint; the flowers are punched from old wrapping paper with added marker outlines.

ICAD #1

Happy June First! How did that happen?? So here is my first ICAD card. Painted background and "markered" everything else.

Some Blooms

I'm just popping in with a few pretty flowers and a "hello." Can we believe May is winding down already? Time really does fly! June brings the annual ICAD challenge (here is the official info). I'm not certain if I will participate this year, but if I do, I will post my cards here as usual.

Good Estate Sale

I hit a good estate sale last week. The house was small but jammed packed. This is the most I have bought at one sale in a long time. From the far left, around clockwise: two small, made in Brazil, spice canisters. A cute and mod cat ornament made in Hong Kong. A 1949 dress pattern; this is the oldest pattern I've ever found. A very cute children's book. A complete U.S. map puzzle with a copyright of 1915. Two Xmas aprons and a cute, musical themed hanky.

A very hard to find Nuway spice rack from the 30s (I think). A Little Golden Book dictionary. 1970s laundry hooks-- those are really handy. Four, believe it or not, boxes of flash cards, and an old, unused ledger book.

A few school workbooks, unused from the 60s, and two very old magazines. The Woman's Day is from 1940 and the BH & G is from 1952. Can you see the price on the Woman's Day? Two cents!!
