Spoon Rack Makeover

I picked up this spoon rack at a thrift store recently and decided it needed an update-- looked awfully late 70s to me.  And I almost forgot to take a "before" photo which is why it is painted on the top-- didn't buy it that way!

Here's the finished product.  What do you think?  Decoupaged the images and "aged" the entire piece.  Kind of funny to think I "aged" something from the 1970s!
It will go in my Etsy shop soon.

Have a fun day!

  1. It looks wonderful! I'm using two of them (just painted white) to display hankies, but your aging and decoupage works so well, adding so much.

  2. Me again! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment...boy, do I "identify!" Oh, I read in your profile you like biographies. Me too, but I prefer auto-biographies. As my grandmother used to say, "I get their lies right out of their own mouths." Just a little ascerbic, my gran!

  5. Love it!
I like that you aged something already old too! I think now they call it 'altered art'...
and like already mentioned above, I've seen them used to display vintage hankies... so, I bet this sells quickly.

    ...it's cute enough. Pat

  7. I had a spoon rack exactly like that one that I got rid of years ago. Now I just house my collection of spoons from around the world in old creamery dishes. Wish I had kept the spoon rack and done a makeover instead. Great work! Best wishes, Tammy
