Etsy Iron In The Fire

In case you didn't notice the Etsy link to the right, I decided to point it out. My husband and I have wanted to try selling on Etsy for several months-- since I started making boxes and boxes of cards, tags, plaques and etc.

 The tip of the iceberg!!!!!!!

We finally got around to it this week.  So far, so good, although I'd like to see my crafts move!  We aren't listing tons of items right away-- we thought we'd better get the hang of it first.  So we'll see how it goes!

Enjoy and stop by Etsy!

Freedom Tag

With the 4th of July right around the corner, here is a tag I made a month or so ago. The b & w image is from a postage stamp booklet-- great photo!  The "Freedom" letters and the "4" card are Tim Holtz stickers.

Wacky Answer

So how many of you had a taste for iced tea after yesterday's (6-27-12) post? Nestea iced tea mix is, of course, still around. Remember the "Nestea Plunge" commercials? As kids, we used to fall backwards into our local community pool, chanting that slogan!

B & G Plate

Usually I'm not in to "traditional" collectibles, but I picked up this Bing and Grondahl Children's Day plate at a estate sale recently.  Something about the girl hanging laundry struck a chord.  Maybe because I've done the same thing since I was old enough to hand my mother clothespins.

Incidentally, I put it on a kitchen shelf-- not out in my garden!

Wacky Pack Wednesday

Considering the beastly weather forecast for tomorrow, I chose a refreshing Wacky Pack for this week. I'm sure most folks will know this one even though the jar and labeling has changed considerably.

Enjoy and stay cool!

TT/Tales of the Riverbank

Quite an epic sounding theme at Tag Tuesday this week: "Tales of the Riverbank." I'm not sure if my effort measures up.  The main image is an old playing card of kids skipping stones.  I added some punched leaves on top and scrapbook elements on the bottom.  Look carefully for a squirrel, dragonfly, and frog.

Dad's Lilies

Lilies are common-- even I can grow them, but this plant, in my dad's yard, was such a spectacular color this year that I had to share.

You Tell Me

This "thing" sat at my local thrift shop for several months.  I finally bought it for all of 50 cents even though I really don't know what it is.  It's triangular, slightly footed, about two inches high, and marked "Bavaria" on the bottom.

So you tell me-- dish, pot saucer, art pottery? I still like the shape and design even if it remains a mystery.

Pattern Girl Tag

Another pattern girl tag-- just what the world needs.  I like the look of this one even though it's not really "my colors."

Enjoy and happy Friday!

Wacky Answer

Gee, I almost forgot to post the answer to yesterday's (6-20-12) Wacky, and I just know there are hoards out there screaming for it: Glad trash bags.

Berry Season

One good thing about my house is the black raspberry bushes in the backyard.  For a week or so each June, we harvest a bowlful of berries every day.  So nice especially since the bushes were there when we bought this house; I never water them; I never fertilize them; rarely trim them, and get free food-- occasionally life is good.

TT/Green

I've never been a big fan of the color green.  As a matter-of-fact, it probably is my least favorite color, but "Green" is the theme at Tag Tuesday this week.  For some strange reason, I thought of green Jell-o so pulled out an old Jell-o recipe book I bought at a garage sale.  Instead of actual Jell-o, I found this recipe and photo of grasshopper pie, and the rest is history.  Well, Tag Tuesday history.

Shoulda Known

Both bowling balls sold! I am always surprised at what does and does not sell!

Garage Sale

Today (and yesterday) my family is engaging in the overworked, probably underpaid, often dull, occasionally insulting, slightly entertaining summer tradition known as a garage sale.  Here are a few "lowlights:"

Plants my sister no longer has room for.

Lilies for sale!  It just so happened that we dug these out to make room for another plant.

Old landscape edging, and who doesn't need 50 year old bowling balls?  Well, okay, nobody!

I am trying to unload a lot of nice things too-- hope they move!

Secret Bird Tags

A few tags that I made recently from scrapbook paper (mostly):

I used Kaiser Craft's Secret Bird Society papers-- really nice line.

Enjoy and Happy Flag Day!

TT/Camping

"Camping" is the theme this week at Tag Tuesday, and "picnic" is one of the suggested ideas.  I found the black and white photo in a tattered 1950s women's magazine.  All the words came from an old spelling book.  All else is scrapbook paper-- well, with one exception.  The brown trim on the bottom was cut from a plain, old grocery sack.

Hanging Basket

This cute basket cost all of one quarter at a second-hand shop.  I added some scrapbook paper elements to the wood on the bottom.  The tag hanging on the right side is the 25 cent price tag that came with it.  I aged it with a couple of coffee grounds then added scrapbook paper to each side.  How's that for recycling?  I hung it on a closet door to shoot it as I'm not sure yet where it will reside.

Playing Card

A rather unique playing card in my collection.  It is actually die-cut or shaped, however I should describe it.  Kinda cool.

And just to prove it is a playing card, here is the back:

TT/The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

A royal theme this week at Tag Tuesday: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.  On the official Jubilee website you can email a message to Her Majesty.  My daughter sent her congratulations and the reply she received became part of my tag.  I happened to have the postage stamp in my stash.

We are fortunate to witness such an event!

Raggedy Ann Mug

I picked up this mug at an estate sale for all of ten cents.  It is marked on the bottom "Raggedy Ann by Kathy K."  It certainly does not resemble the traditional Raggedy Ann.  I guess it's the 1970s version!  Notice the bird nest "hat" on her head.  Very cute and colorful.

Time for another sewing pattern tag.  This is one of my faves of the tags that I've made.  Dig those boots-- and with hot pants yet!  Groovy!

Diamond Jublilee

As the world celebrates the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this weekend, I thought I'd gather things British from around my house.  An odd mix but still fun.

Barbie's mod friend, Stacey, from England was produced in 1968.  I actually have owned the original (shown far right with her dress) since way back then and had to buy the new edition a few years ago.  Notice the differences in the swimsuits?

No explanation necessary.

An all too funny TV series from Britain.

 A classic.

And I almost forgot about this quirky kids' book I have.  This Is London was first published in 1959.

I must include the English Mastiff, Arthur, named for King Arthur.  How British can we get?

An event like this rarely comes around so enjoy!
