Kiddie LPs

I picked up a few children's LPs at a thrift store recently. I usually don't buy records, but these sleeves are cute, or at least, I thought so...

This is the inside of the above record.

And FYI-- I will probably be away from blogging for awhile. No reason other than I haven't had much to post about lately. Thanks, as always, for viewing!

Aesop's Fables

My daughter had a school project recently that involved Aesop's Fables. I had to pull out my old book, published in 1965.

It contains quite a lot of stories, but here are some familiar ones:

You can tell by the back cover how much I read this book as a child (or my mother read it to me). I think the colorful artwork had me captivated.

Enjoy your day!

Friday Estate Sale

I went to an estate sale Friday which a lot of you may know means everything is full price. With that in mind, I didn't expect to walk away with much, and I was right. The house was pretty full, but most items were old, dusty, rusty-- and expensive! However, I came away with a sewing pattern, a farm license plate from 1985, a very mod desk or vanity storage box, and a box full of empty film reels.

Let's take a closer look at that pattern. 1969 dresses and jumpers for girls. Yes, it does look rather "Brady Bunchsque." Kinda fun.

Thanks for stopping in today!

Frame of Reference

I received a fun comment from Pat, of Corn In My Coffee Pot fame, on yesterday's inchies. She mentioned there was no frame of reference to give an idea of size. Well, she was right so just for fun, I reshot all of them next to an item I think everyone will know. Up first-- a domino.

A penny, of course

A small sized ponytail holder

A standard playing card

A die

A Junior Mint

A toothpick

Postage stamps

A pencil

A Ritz cracker
 A drinking straw

A teaspoon

A cassette tape

A crayon

A can of tuna

And just in case you are still not convinced-- how about next to a folding yardstick?

Thanks, Pat! Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Tiny Houses

Yes, it is time for more inchies. I was on a "house" kick recently.

Plus a few others...

The Girls LO

I'm showing a recent scrapbook layout today. The photo is a copy from about 1920. The girls are my great-great grandmother, my great-great aunt, my great grandmother, and an in-law to the aunt in the picture. Nice to document these old photos.

Thanks for viewing! Have a good day!

First Garage Sale

The first garage sale of the season last Friday netted a few finds.

It has been YEARS since I found an enamel flower pin at a garage sale.

This book is hard to see in the top photo. Geometric pattern reference book which is very cool. A seller on Etsy is selling individual pages. I will leave it intact.

Not one but two 1970 Raggedy Ann and Andy sewing patterns. It didn't dawn on me until I got home that it looks like my doll that my aunt made for me about 1971. This probably was the pattern she used. I think I'll keep one.

Two reasons I'm showing this gem of a find-- sink drain "gunk" catchers. #1: This is the type of thing you come home with when your husband comes along. #2: Notice the upper right corner. "GIFT?" This is a gift?? Somehow I never thought of buying these as gifts. Maybe I've been missing something.

Have a good day!

Thrift Games

The thrift finds have been sooooooo lacking of late I was thinking of giving up the ship, but I did find some nifty old games recently. I've never seen this one before. Made in Austria, it is a memory game of famous paintings. Pretty cool.

Bingo, anyone?

Some pretty old poker chips in their boxes.

And a definitely old pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey game. Very nice art on the box.

I also found some vintage Hallmark stationery. They sure don't make designs like this anymore.

Have a fun day!

April Photo Challenge

You might recall the March photo challenge I shared here. A new month brings a new challenge. This time I managed to take all 20, with a little help from my family. Here goes:

1. Clouds (a painted section of my living room ceiling)

2. Something that begins with M; had to use my Mastiff!

3. Train tracks

4. Colored paper

5. Any reflection

6. A pinwheel

7. Something that begins with A (double points for "abstract art" by my daughter)

8. A rainbow (also by my daughter a few years ago)

9. Something green (another of my daughter's creations!)

10. A craft store

11. A wind chime

12. A squirrel (I've had this little guy forever)

13. A stop sign

14. Something orange (Jolly Olly Orange to be exact)

15. A flag

16. Fabric with flowers on it (some of you might recognize this as a Vera napkin)

17. Something that begins with Y

18. A welcome sign (a newly made twinchie)

19. A church steeple

20. Your craft room/space (do I gotta show this??)

Yes, a portion of my craft counter in all its glory. If your craft space is not a mess, it means one of two things: either you just cleaned it or you never use it. Mine is definitely used!

So-- what would you have shot?
