Wacky Pack Wednesday

Unless you've been living under a rock since 1893-- yes, it is that old-- you'll immediately recognize Pepsi-Cola. Did you know it was originally called "Brad's Drink" after its creator? Not quite as zippy.

Collage Cards

I made a lot of collage type cards for ICAD this summer. I liked mixing paper with some hand drawing, doodling and so carried that over to making note cards. Here are the first attempts:

When I get the chance, I will make more of these.  They're fun!

Have a good day, everyone!

Friday Finds

I hit a few garage sales and one estate sale on Friday. Let's see what she walked away with...

A pretty cool 70s owl plaque, a Pluto Pez dispenser for my daughter (she collects them), a 1952 Kodak photography guide, an old picture book for journal purposes, an unopened pack of paper with a map on it (some sort of company printer paper) also for journal purposes, and a neat old baseball cribbage game. Also four skirt/pants hangers. I bought two (25 cents each) for my daughter to use to hang posters, and as I was heading to my car, the man running the sale came after me, saying the hangers were "buy one get one." Well, okay. So I got four for 50 cents.

Some old Christmas ornaments and a manger scene. If you're rolling your eyes a bit at some of them, my daughter collects the kitschy 70s type ornaments; probably because we do find them often, but she thinks they're cute.

Old celluloid type reindeer that I'm pretty sure were dismantled from some other decoration. I thought they might come in handy for some crafting.

Here are a couple pages from that Kodak guide. It's actually pretty cool with these turning meter type "things."

Here is a closer look at that baseball game. It did come with pegs and dice.

Not a bad haul. Thanks for looking!

One note: going from garage sales to an estate sale, especially when entering the garage first, can create "sticker shock." Prepare yourself first!

Junk Journals

I know some of you have heard of junk journals, but if that is a new term to you, they are books intended for journaling, drawing, holding notes, scraps, ideas... What was once called a scrapbook, I'd say. Nowadays, however, many of these have decorated or printed pages instead of blank which is rather fun. I have made notebooks before which kind of bordered on junk journals, but I recently took a stab at making bigger (well, thicker) ones. Here is the first batch.

I used a pamphlet stitch on the spine which looks tricky if you've never tried it, but it is very simple (lots of how-tos on Youtube).

Finding pages for the contents is pretty fun, and a great way to use up some papers that maybe you're not real wild about or have just been laying around too long. I also included some monoprints I made and a few vintage pages such as maps.

Pretty fun! I am keeping one of these for myself. So far I glued in one small cat picture from an old magazine-- whoo hoo!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Recent Finds

I've picked up quite a variety of finds lately. Up first, 1980s era bookmarks from Pier One. How do I know that? For one thing, there are old Pier One price stickers on the backs of  some, and I have one in my bookmark collection that I'm sure I bought in the late 70s or early 80s.

Old pinbacks. Who remembers Caravelle candy bars? I used to love them! I wish they still made them today. And two "Smoking Stinks" buttons from the 70s.

An unused Speedball set of pens and nibs for a buck! You can't beat that. I have similar nibs, but they do wear out over time.

A 90s, maybe 80s era Snoopy mug and a pretty nifty pickling book. Everything you need to know about picking is in there!

A very cute set of tiny Halloween books that were still in their original packaging. A small, handmade pitcher, and a Vera scarf. Funny, but you can always spot those in a basket of jumbled scarves. This one is all red, white, and blue.

Wacky Pack Wednesday

This week's Wacky is probably familiar to you if you have ever bought a Father's Day present. I remember my mom buying this off and on for my dad and her dad. Old Spice, of course!

Have a lovely day!

A Little More Halloween

I couldn't resist some of the new Halloween scrapbook papers and products. I thought I was done making Halloween cards, but no...

The fun you can have with old library due date cards. I came up with book titles to match the images then added Halloweenish type authors and library patron names. Although most of my clever names were covered by the images so you'll have to take my word for that.

And a few more cards

I think that's it for Halloween production but never say never, right?

Have a good day!

1967 Mod Fashions

Finally, I'm getting around to posting the last of the 1967 Sears catalog. Here we have the hip, trendy clothes for women and juniors.

Very, very mod. Dig those hip-huggers.

Notice the matching shoes.

Isn't that Susan Dey in both the middle photos?

Had to show this hair style and earrings.

I think I know why girdles were popular back then.

Thanks for viewing these. A fun look back.

Have a nice day!

Yea! The Last Inchie Post

YES!! The last inchie post (for now anyway). Thanks for putting up with these as I "cleaned out" my drafted posts.

Have a nice day!!

Oh Boy, More Inchies

Are we nearing an end of the inchie parade???  Almost!

A series of the months

The rest were made from old magazines with two exceptions from a newer postage stamp catalogue. Maybe you can identify those-- kinda obvious.

Enjoy!

Bonus Inchies

Yes, two posts in one day. Let's get through these inchies! Enjoy!

No one ever said you can't turn an inchie and make it a diamond. And in case you don't know, The General is a classic Buster Keaton silent film.  "The General" is the name of a train.

Now go have a good day!

Wacky Pack Wednesday

A Wacky version of Rice Krispies today. I hope your morning didn't start off wrong!

Have a good day!

More Inchies

As promised, here are more inchie creations that I made earlier this year but never shared. These are a mix of newer and vintage magazine clippings.

The ones below were made from strictly vintage magazines.

That's it today!  Thanks for viewing.

Recent Inchies

It has been quite awhile since I posted any inchie creations. ICAD and other posts of vital interest took precedence, and confidentially I haven't made any inchies lately either. Deciding to take a break from creating for Etsy this past weekend, I made the inchies shown here.

This one is off by itself because for some odd reason it is a little larger than 1" x 1". I don't know how I managed that, and of course didn't notice that fact until I was done. Don't report me to the inchie police force, okay?

This week I'll be catching up with other inchie posts I drafted but never published.

Have a nice little day out there!
