Timmy Tiger

Another one of my childhood books today. This one is rather unique. As you can see, it actually stands up or it can be folded flat to fit on a bookshelf. The copyright is 1969.

The story inside has small pages that are lifted up. Very pretty illustrations too.

ICAD The First Week

Here are the first week's worth of ICAD cards-- well, I'm not showing the first one again; in case you missed it, scroll down to June 1st.

This one has a light layer of acrylic paint on the background. The rest is markers, a magazine clipping, and vintage postage stamps. That is song lyrics I wrote for no reason other than I thought it needed some words. Bonus points if you know the song (w/o looking it up).

I followed the prompt of "draw a map" in a roundabout fashion. I didn't draw a map but did include a couple. They are from an old BH & G garden book.

You guessed it-- the last day of school around here.  Yea!!

I followed the "owls" prompt for this one because I had the owl stamp and owl washi tape. Might as well use them.

I decided after the vintage-y type cards I had been doing, it was time for something completely different. 1970s magazine clippings and markers.

This one was a tad different too-- 1970s wrapping paper.

TH Tag June

If you came over from the Tim Holtz blog, yes, this is my June tag. Yes, I know it looks nothing like Tim's. Yes, I know I took a lot of liberties. Yes, I know it's not even a tag. But... I had none of the TH supplies; I don't drink coffee; I've never set foot in a Starbuck's (gasp!); I'm not wild about the color green. So here is my "at the other end of the spectrum" ATC and inchie. Forgive me!

Pocket Letters

Have you heard about pocket letters? Read the official lowdown here. It's a new mail swap, using trading card page protectors. You are to fill each pocket with something; just what is up to you, but what I've seen the contents usually are pattern papers, stickers, sequins, scrapbooking type stuff. Jill at Little Bit Of Everything asked if I was into the pocket letter craze and offered to send me one of her creations. I never made one before but decided to give it a try. Since I read Jill's blog, I know a little about her-- for example, she's a David Cassidy fan, likes to make Smash books, and collects Vera scarves so I was able to personalize this "letter."

It's sort of hard to know where to begin and where to stop. The upper left is an old playing card-- they usually are the perfect size for these pockets. David is a copy of one of my books, a cut Bingo card and a few Bingo pieces. The middle row is an old cookbook page folded up with stickers tucked inside. Next is a Vera ATC I made. The collagey looking paper on the right is one of those notebooks I make out of scrapbook paper. They are the right size too. Bottom left is some journaling tidbits. In the middle are a few Smash pad pages (I did have to trim those to get them to fit) and a couple of my inchies. Lastly is just a piece of an old greeting card that I added "Happy mail" to.

A lot of these pages are decorated on the top of the plastic with word type stickers which I don't have much of so added some image stickers instead and some washi tape to keep things from falling out.

On the back I added pattern paper if the backside was plain. I also stuck on a couple pieces of washi tape.

So let's see what's inside...

Some of these were slid in between the front and back as little surprises.

Now, let's see what Jill sent to me... She decorated everything!  Even the back of the envelope (upper left).

Look at the fun things she included!  Jill mentioned to me that making these letters seems to take some time, and I can see why! She really put in a lot of effort! She wrote a post about pocket letters recently; you can read it here.

I think everyone knows this is Milk Duds, right?  Did you know they go back to 1926, and were called "duds" because they were not perfectly round? Who knew?

ICAD 2015

Index-card-a-day is upon us once again. Here is the official info at Daisy Yellow. In a nutshell, it is creating some piece of art on an index card every day in June and July. I was on the fence about participating this year. It's fun, but jump starting my creativity is not a problem I have fortunately so, for me, it's just sort of "one more thing" on my to-do list. However, it is fun, like I said, and it will keep me off the streets, right??  Ha, ha...

So here is my first card for this year which has nothing to do with current weather conditions here. We've seen ridiculously below normal temps since Saturday. The weather will catch up to the month eventually-- at least we can hope!
