Christmas Tour

Since this is Christmas Day, I better get with a little tour of my little house. Here is a sampling of the annual decor to celebrate the season and chase away the winter blues. I have a modest mix of family pieces and thrifted, dating back to WWII. You might also see a new item here and there (gasp).

A shelf in my kitchen that for the last three or so seasons has housed my mother's Kitty Cucumbers-- many of them I bought for her as gifts.  The bottom shelf is a camel collection I once started and now just display for Christmas.

A collection of Christmas boxes.  A couple once belonged to relatives; all others were thrifted.  They are empty except for the box with the candles-- there are old Christmas light bulbs in there.  My mother stored them in there; I just left them. Pay no attention to the outlet in the background.

Cross stitch and large painted house by yours truly. The little house was purchased by my daughter last year at a local estate sale. 1980s ski folks. The elf/Santa was a gift some 20 years ago. The brick thing is a gift tag!

An old gift bag and another cross stitch-- that one was a pain! The pattern was super tiny. Ugh!

Christmas books from my childhood. You can see how well-loved they were/are; 2 out of 3 are missing their covers!

A knee-hugger ornament. My great-aunt took it off her own Christmas tree back in the 70s and gave it to me. If she could see how popular they are today!

A kind of odd elf/pixie/? Picked up at a thrift store a couple years ago. I like the unusual blue color.

This elf is a bell. Bought at a garage sale for my daughter a few years ago.

Very old bird clip ornament that belonged to my grandparents. He's never had tail feathers during my lifetime.

Just an old ornament bought at an antique store about 15 years ago.

Felt bird ornament made by my mother in the 70s. Remember when those felt kits were popular?

And, of course, the Gurleys are out again this year. I think they might need a new spot next year. Getting too predictable.

There is a lot more scattered around, but that was quite enough pictures, don't you think??  Hope you are having a nice holiday in your neck of the woods!

  2. Beautiful ornaments. I still have a couple of the felt birds that my mom made in the 70's too.

I think the favorite thing I've seen here with your holiday decor...the vintage boxes! Truly a thing of the past. Loved seeing it all.
