Real Cut-Ups

Since I posted a picture of an old lion cookie cutter that I picked up at a garage sale on 7-21-12, I thought I'd share some others that I have.  Nothing too fab or rare, but these were my grandmother's.  Usually they are displayed over my back porch window; I just shot them outside.

This set belonged to my aunt.  When my daughter was a tot, she gave them to me, thinking we'd use them for their intended purpose, but I like the packaging so much I've left them as is (I have a lot of other cutters anyway).  This set sits on my kitchen counter at the moment.

1905 Beach Fun

I have some old greeting cards and postcards.  Some are mine and some I've bought used.  Here is a rather timely postcard from 1905-- amazing!  That is 107 years ago!!  And, no, this one was not mine originally.  It was sent from Michigan to Chicago.

I love what the sender wrote on the bottom: "I am having a fun time chasing mosquitos..."  Some things never change!

TT/Mermaids and Water Babies

Good.  This is the last beach/water theme at Tag Tuesday.  "Mermaids and Water Babies" wrap up the month.  Again, I'm reaching a bit; follow along...  Ever see the movie "Head" starring the Monkees?  The opening scene involves Micky jumping off a bridge and being rescued by mermaids.  In true 1960s style, the mermaids are filmed in psychedelic colors-- very cool.  If you've never seen it, take a gander at youtube; search "The Porpoise Song."

I was able to find an image of the "Head" mermaids and so used it for my tag.  The ends of the tag are watercolors which blended in better than I intended.  The song lyrics are from the Monkees' "The Porpoise Song" which plays over the mermaids scene.  In double-checking the lyrics, I learned that song was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King.

So that's a lot more Monkees trivia than anyone wants on a Tuesday, right?  C'mon, who doesn't feel better after listening to a Monkees song??

The Wacky Pack posted yesterday (7-25-12) was pretty easy to figure out. Blue Bonnet margarine. If you search Google images for Blue Bonnet, the packaging differences from "now and then" is rather interesting. The Blue Bonnet girl is significantly smaller today. I guess bonnets aren't in style anymore, eh? Maybe they should consider a change to a beanie!! Ha, ha...
