Little Bird

With my recent robin posts, I thought this was a good time to share another children's book.  Little Bird, by Catherine Stahlmann and illustrated by Irma Wilde, has a 1964 copyright; it has been mine its entire, well-loved life.  Notice the 15 cent price stamped in the upper left corner.

Something about the pictures attracted me as a child.

When I was a young(er) adult and searching through a box of my old books, I happily pulled out this one.  "This was my favorite!"  I expressed with joy.  My mother, on the other hand, heaved a heavy sigh, and replied, "I know!"

Thanks for all the readIng, Mom!

Enjoy!

They Grow Up So Fast

Can you believe this is one of the baby robins from Thursday's post?  Scroll down and take a look.
Less than a week between these photos.  Amazing!

Busy Robins

Remember my post on May 3rd?  Well, Mr. and Mrs. Robin have been busy!

Those poor babies must be hot!  We've had a long heat wave that isn't expected to break for several more days.

So ugly, they're cute!

And let's give credit where credit's due: my husband shot these photos.  He's 7 inches taller than I am.

Enjoy!

TT/Seaside

Well, July's themes at Tag Tuesday left me somewhat uninspired as I haven't been to a beach in decades.  This week is "seaside;" things found on a beach.  I happened to have a scrapbook paper with beach icons (I bought it because it was on sale) so cut out this sign.

I really didn't know what I was going to do with it then decided since it was a sign, make it a sign!  I added the graffiti and little beach towel.  The stakes are popsicle sticks, and I added some pieces of dead lily leaves to look like dry grass.

I hope my fellow "taggers" don't feel my effort is too subpar!

Enjoy!

The Un-Cola

I lived through the Bicentennial but don't remember patriotic 7-Up bottles, do you?

I recently picked this up at a local garage sale -- quite a bargain at 50 cents. Both sides have a commemorative design. I set it by a little holiday display on my front porch. I like it, but every once in a while I catch a glimpse and think someone left a pop bottle sitting around (I guess someone did!).

This is also a timely find as I soon will be redecorating my bedroom in a patriotic theme. More on that later...

Enjoy!

Summer Tags

Before my daughter was out of school for the summer, we decided to make up a few slips of paper with themes written on them.  Whenever we felt a crafty (or bored) impulse, we would pull a slip and each make a hang tag using that theme. We completed a few so far.  I hope I don't have to point out whose is whose!  I will list the themes, however.

 American Girl Dolls

Apples; my daughter designed the back of hers too

 Chocolate Cake

My sister's one in a million Lab, Sherman

Enjoy!
