Wacky Answer
Nestle Quik wasn't too tricky to figure out from yesterday's (5-30-12) post. Did you notice the hand reaching out of the top?! Maybe that is why Nestle went from a metal lid to plastic!

Wacky Pack Wednesday
I know this Wacky Package product is still with us because I have a canister in a kitchen cupboard. And I, not my daughter, am the one who drinks it!
Enjoy!

TT/Bunting and Flags
A timely theme this week at Tag Tuesday: "Bunting and Flags." I made paper buntings out of scrapbook paper that I aged with a wet tea bag. The main image is from a commemorative postage stamp booklet that I thought might come in handy someday. And that is a genuine postage stamp near the botom. Note the cost!
I spent more time and effort on this tag than previous tags. I thought it turned out so well that I hung it on the corner of a patriotic sampler I have. What I didn't notice was it fell. Rhody, the Coonhound, did notice. Good thing I got a photo of it prior to her adjustments-- I guess she doesn't like red rick rack. The tag was salvageable, but it will never be the same.
Enjoy (Rhody did!)!

70s Vases
These squatty vases were thrift store purchases (at different times) a few years ago. I imagine they once held some tall 1970s straw flowers that probably faded and collected dust until the owner tossed them. I don't keep flowers of any era in them but do have them setting on a side table in my dining room. I like their shape and colors.
Enjoy!

Draft Horse Tag
I've always had a great admiration for draft horses. Where would civilization be without them? Here is a simple tag I made recently.
Enjoy and thank a draft horse!

Playing Card
Another playing card from my collection. I thought this looked rather summery. I ought to set it our for the season, shouldn't I?

Wacky Answer
I'm sure everyone figured out yesterday's (5-23-12) Wacky: Land O' Lakes Butter. Funny how some things never change!
Altered Matchboxes
Here is one more thing collage artists are "altering" these days: matchboxes. The ones below are the small type as you can tell by the size of the postage stamps.
I bought plain drawer boxes from Oriental Trading Co., but some artists cover actual matchboxes. I've made some seasonal ones too. Kinda fun.
Enjoy!

TT/Found Objects
I was in a bit of a pickle this week at Tag Tuesday. The theme is "found objects." The problem was I never found anything! I guess my neighborhood is cleaner than I realized. My daughter helped me out by giving me a label out of her pot of flowers in our back yard. Good enough! Similar to last week's gardening tag, I used elements from the R.H. Shumway seed catalog again.
Enjoy!

Leading Men
My daughter and I stopped at three garage sales this passed Saturday. We both found a few treasures (to see what "treasure" means to a seven-year-old, hop over to bkscraftclub.com). My top pick of the day is a fab book, Leading Men. I have a small library of film star books, and this one is a pip-- only fifty cents too!! I'm surprised it didn't already have a bookplate with my name printed on it. Here are a few of the many highlights of great faces and great photography.
Clark Gable on the cover.
Cary Grant and Jean Harlow.
Charles Boyer
James Dean
Paul Newman
Rudolph Valentino
And, S, this one is for you: William Holden

I brushed off a little "blob of dirt" from my mailbox yesterday, and it unfurled into a long strand of 2 million baby spiders! EEK!!!!!!!

Putting pillowcases on my peonies for the "freeze watches and warnings" earlier this spring paid off. This is the first year they have bloomed!

Wacky Answer
Yesterday's (5-16-12) Wacky Pack is one of my favorites; love the concept and design even though I've never had a Nabisco Mallomar in my life! Are they good??

TT/Gardening
This week the theme over at Tag Tuesday is "gardening." Thanks to the R. H. Shumway catalog, I came up with a collage style tag. Love their old-time illustrations and fonts!
Enjoy, and I did buy some of their flower seeds!

New Plantings
I usually wait until May 15th, which was my grandmother's birthday, to plant annual flowers, but this year my daughter and I put in flowers on the 6th-- she was anxious to have her own flower pot. I thought I'd post what they look like now then later after they fill in.
The spaces are planted with flower seeds. And, yes, there are two sweet potatoes in there. Last year I had one grow over six feet long. Wish them luck!

Morrison Collage
I saw this collage technique on scrapbook.com's gallery late last year. Pretty cool, eh? You cut one inch squares and arrange them, butting up against each other. You can also throw in a 1" x 2" piece here and there. I glued mine to illustration board with a scrapbook paper border.
I made two others of my dearly departed pets. This one is an ode to Jim Morrison of The Doors fame. Sigh. Ever wonder-- when my generation becomes nursing home residents, will they allow Jim Morrison posters on the walls and Led Zeppelin piped into the lounge? Just one of the things I worry about.
Enjoy!

TT/Baking
I run the risk of wining the "I hope you didn't go to too much trouble" award this week at Tag Tuesday. The theme is "baking." When I thought to use a brownie mix box as the base of my tag. I intended to add a recipe, pictures of baking dishes, etc. However, after I cut out the tag, I thought it had such graphic appeal that I decided to leave well enough alone. You know, part of being an artist is knowing when to stop!

Recipe For Design
There are a lot of cool, old recipe boxes out there. Here are three that brighten up my house. The floral one with the blue top has been mine since it was new. I even wrote my name, very big, on the lid top which I've tried to remove. No luck. The other two I picked up cheap at a garage sale and thrift store.
They're fun and useful. Hope I find some more!
Enjoy!

Poppies
When I bought my house, a very generous friend of mine gave me several plants from her own yard. Poppies were one of her gifts. They do great every year!

New Boarders
I didn't advertise for any boarders, but a couple moved in recently. This robin's nest was assembled in about 24 hours!
Hope they are happy-- and don't disrupt my electric service!
Enjoy!
Wacky Answer
Yesterday's (5-2-12) Wacky doesn't really need revealing, but here it is anyway: Head and Shoulders shampoo.

TT/Sewing
The theme this week at Tag Tuesday is "sewing." From making tags and cards with the illustrations on sewing pattern envelopes, I have a stash of pattern instructions and pieces. "Sew" I used that for my tag. I sewed on a couple of buttons and glued on the front and back of an old snap.
Enjoy!
