Smashing Once Again

I'm showing three more Smash pages today. Below is an addition to the "Quotes" book. I watercolored the background which did not work out well. The paper is not heavy enough and rippled. NOTE to the Smash Book people: adding a few watercolor pages to the books might be a good idea.

A somewhat silly page for the "Favorites" book. In case you don't know these gents, they are (clockwise from upper left) Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, Jim Morrison of The Doors, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin.

Here is the latest which I added to the Quotes book. After listening to that "Hello Dolly" record the other day, I liked this line from one of the songs: "There's no Blue Monday in your Sunday clothes." The ladies below were cut from old sewing patterns.

Thanks for looking!

  1. Cool! I like what you did.
When you use water color you have to learn to let it dry. I blow dry mine and you can only do so much.when doing water color. I made water paint cards also and I did not have thick paper.they never ripped. You have to have patience. You only dot here and there. You have to know how much to run. It is tricky. Something you master by practice and feel of the brushes.

You check with side of your hand if the paper is damp. You paint it will rip if you don't have the right consist y of dampness vs dryness.. I am still learning. I made my three Grandsons those smash books. They loved them. My grad girls I did lace and I added clip out of a magazine and decorated with paint background and then on top made material. I love to craft 100% books. Water painting you can change with drawing the water off the page with a thin brush but oil painting your stuck or any other oil base..
