With Christmas right around the corner, I decided to post some old, vintage, retro, mid-century (you chose the adjective) Christmas cards. They were purchased from antique stores years ago when you could pick them up for fifty cents apiece. Those days are gone, I fear.
Can't find new cards like this. I set these (and others I have) around the house as part of my holiday decorating. They remind me of "Christmas past."
I am linking to Mockingbird Hill Cottage's "A Favorite Thing." Hop over for a look. Always something interesting.
Enjoy!
Oh! I love these. I remember when you could purchase these for a song! I had a small vintage Christmas post card collection years ago. I still have a few, but non nearly as nice as your card collection. Don't you just love the sweet artwork and simple colors? Thanks so much for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteThis post brought back memories for me. I'm in my 70's and remember these cards. We used to send so many cards in those days.

Hi Diane,
ReplyDeleteYou didn't leave an email, so I thought I would leave you a note here. Love to have you join the Cool Yule swap, welcome!
enJOY a lovely weekend,

Lovely cards.
ReplyDeleteI usually buy a bunch of Christmas cards (from unicef) each year before Christmas but do not send them out. so I have more and more. :-)
The cards and the ads from years ago were so lovely to see ... nothing like the throwaway variety of today. Best wishes for a wonderful weekend, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI adore vintage cards! Yours are charming and in such wonderful shape. (I was at an antique and collectible show last weekend and one vendor had priced really soiled ones at several dollars a piece. Sheesh!)
ReplyDeleteHappy holiday weekend!
They have that mid century graphic charm. I picked up a few vintage Christmas cards at an estate sale this summer. Visiting from Claudia's, Olive
ReplyDeleteLOVE your card collection! Those old cards are just loaded with charm, aren't they? I grab them whenever I see them, but they can be expensive. I especially love those curtains on the last card!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to decorate with those terrific cards! Visiting via MHC and enjoying meeting all of Claudia's inspiring link partygoers like you!
ReplyDeleteWhat an enjoyable post to view! These cards are certainly fun !
