The Fabric of 1967

Did you know or remember that Sears used to sell fabric by the yard?  No longer, I'm afraid. Here is a sampling of what was available in the Spring/Summer catalog of '67.

Lots of gingham.

Kitchen curtains anyone?

I admit it-- I never heard of "hopsacking" before. Have you? I'm surprised as my mother did a ton of sewing back in that era.

Thanks for viewing!

  1. Oh yes I do remember that. Do they still carry material in other stores like Wal-mart?

  2. Hopsack sounds vaguely familiar, but not sure about it. The others are familiar. It's amazing how all of it was so 'cool' at the time. :-))

  4. Yes, I've heard of Hopsacking.. Some of those fabrics are pretty awful by today's standards. I guess fabric is sold in specialty stores now..You used to be able to get it in craft stores..

  5. I don't think any of those patterns would work for me

  6. Look at all those patterns! Love the gingham, I have a soft spot for it for some reason. I've heard of hopsacking but to be honest didn't know what it was exactly, just did a search and it appears to be a coarse fabric similar to burlap? Don't think I'd want a shirt made out of it!
